Purpose
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Rail Operations, the Operations Center Coordinator is an integral team member of the Canyon Spirit Operations team. The OC Coordinator is the key communication link between numerous departments and is vital to making tactical decisions that involve guest movement.

This position is deemed Safety Alert, and this position requires you to periodically access an active railway area where impaired performance could result in a significant incident affecting the health and safety of team members, guests, the public, property, or the environment.
Key Areas of Accountability
• Communicate operating conditions with Train Managers, Guest Services Managers, and Station Managers.
• Provide continual train performance and real-time operational updates to various departments.
• Monitor the Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) screens of the host railroad and ensure On Time Performance metrics are being met.
• Produce guest-related reports as needed.
• Assist the Operations Center with forecasting, planning, updating, and finalizing motorcoach inventory needs for each U.S. Station.
• Assist with updating and finalizing motorcoach lineups for various U.S. locations.
• Ensure motorcoach and driver availability requirements are met in all states.
• Assist with booking and or canceling additional hotels, flights, transportation for guests, and other arrangements for crew requirements.
• Manage the execution plans for any irregular operations such as unexcepted train delays, emergency operations, and missing luggage scenarios, working collaboratively with the Systems Operations and Mechanical, Onboard, and Destinations teams.
• Input and record information when the Operations Emergency Line has been activated for all U.S. incidents. Communicate with the Operations Center as required.
• Be open and willing to participate in personal development company initiatives.
Safety
• Comply with all General Code of Operating Rules (GCOR), and General Operating Instructions (GOI), and all other safety policies, procedures & rules.
• Identify, protect, and report safety hazards to management and the Workplace Health and Safety Committee.
• Meet or exceed safety and security requirements as set forth by Canyon Spirit and the FRA.
• Maintain basic first aid level provided by Canyon Spirit.
Operations
• Support the successful execution of the Operating Plan.
• Support safe movement of rail equipment.
• Execute the company’s materials handling strategy.
• Support operational and equipment availability requirements.
• Support Operations and Mechanical requirements in the Operations Center.
• Support Emergency Operations Center requirements.
• Support 5S Lean methodology to seek continuous improvement efficiencies.
• This position may require the ability to train for and perform switching duties.
Mechanical
• Support execution of a successful Maintenance Program.
• Read, understand, and interpret schematics, manuals, and other instructions pertaining to equipment.
• Train for the use of equipment and hand tools.
• Support accurate completion of work orders collaboratively with team members and contractors.
• Meet or exceed mechanical and reliability deliverables.
• Support mechanical programs for all locations.
Qualifications
Education, Certification, Licenses
• High School Diploma or equivalent
• College degree in Business Administration, Tourism, or equivalent
Experience/Skills
• Progressive experience in guest operations and customer focus in tourism
• Experience in Railway industry and tourism an asset
