Job Description
Eurofins Botanical Testing is a division of broader Eurofins Scientific Inc. We ensure the authenticity of herbal ingredients. Product adulteration and mislabeling of natural products and ingredients continue to be a serious issue. We use High-Performance Thin Layer Chromatography (HPTLC) as our standard method for botanical identification testing.
As a Research Chemist in our Organization key responisbilities include:
• Analyzes routine samples using established methods while demonstrating the ability to develop new methods and to continuously improve processes with new techniques or technologies.
• Applies GMP/GLP in all areas of responsibility, as appropriate
• Viewed as a resource across Eurofins Botanical, Inc, may be viewed as a resource in the industry.
• Transfers, sets up and performs complex analyses using unfamiliar or new methods, utilizing EFII resources including scientific guidance as needed.
• Designs and teaches others to independently conduct tests for chemistry projects and provide initial analysis.
• Engages with industry trade groups (e.g. AOAC, USP, ICSB, AHPA, ABC) as a participant, with focus on continued technical and leadership development and positive representation of the company
• Contributes to writing articles, white papers, and internal and externally facing technical document.
• Organizes, conducts and evaluates analytical results and testing independently in compliance with applicable methods, protocols, SOP’s and regulatory agency guidelines.
• Documents work, maintains study documentation and laboratory records.
• Independently sets-up, maintains, operates, and performs routine and non-routine maintenance on laboratory equipment and software, including problem identification and resolution.
• Leads project meetings, plans, monitors and guides project work.
• Performs peer review and QC review of data.
• Performs assigned workload on a daily basis and effectively completes multiple assignments.
• Promotes and contributes to a cohesive team environment and maintains a positive attitude. Plans individual workload in coordination with team members and plans team workload in coordination with supervisors or managers.
• Understands data generated, and history of methods.
• Recognizes deviations from normal results and informs Study Director, Principal Investigator, and/or management of any problems and/or deviations that may affect the integrity of the data and drives corrective action of problems.
• Identifies problems and performs modifications in test methods or procedures.
• Helps develop new procedures as needed or directed.
• Understands chemistry principles/concepts within one or more functional groups.
• Initiates, drives, implements and directs others in process improvement initiatives.
• Completes all required training courses.
• Trains, mentors, and assists less experienced staff.
• Sets up and performs optimization, and validation of various analytes in a variety of matrices, and performs method development.
• Participates / leads client visits as needed, and communicates technical information, while demonstrating the ability to represent multiple functional group.
• Evaluates data for incorporation into written reports.
