The Mechanical Design senior Engineer will work with the other disciplines of the Integrated Product Team (IPT) including project, thermal analysis, structural analysis, and electrical design. Projects include support of cockpit displays, flight controls, air management systems, military avionics as well as a variety of other avionics equipment. Projects worked may be for either helicopters or fixed wing aircraft.

The candidate could work either commercial or military programs, which will be determined based upon candidate qualifications and program needs. Tasks will vary, but may include clean sheet design, delivering development hardware, facilitating the delivery of production hardware, processing engineering changes to the production configuration, and support of fielded engines.

What You Will Do

• Resolution of Mechanical Design problems of difficult and complex scope, seeking a balanced system solution, ensuring engineering excellence, all with minimal supervisor oversight.
• Review and approval of product definition data.
• Generate development hardware designs that meet objectives and facilitate the delivery of the hardware on schedule.
• Process technically sound engineering changes within schedule that meet performance metrics.
• Utilize standard work and CORE/ACE tools to continuously improve the design process.
• Mentor other engineers in process-related and/or technical subjects
• Have demonstrated problem solving skills and an understanding of engineering principles
• Direct experience with mechanical design and electronic packaging
• Understanding hardware and manufacturing methods
• Proficiency with mechanical design tools
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail, deadlines, and reporting.
• Ability to clearly and concisely communication to all levels of the organization.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a consistent record of collaboration, innovation, and initiative.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 12 years of relevant experience 
• The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required 
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance 

Qualifications We Prefer

• Working knowledge of Environmental testing equipment, procedures and qualification activities (e.g. RTCA DO-160 or MIL-STD-810G)
• An active US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance.  
• Familiarity with the design and manufacturing processes of CCAs, metal housings, sheet metal
