Overview

USU Eastern is seeking a dependable and motivated PartTime Grounds Employee to assist with the upkeep and appearance of campus grounds. This position plays an important role in maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. The ideal candidate enjoys working outdoors, capable, and is willing to assist other departments as needed.

  • Parttime during the academic year
  • Up to 40 hours per week, on occasion, during the summer, based on departmental needs
  • Schedule may vary and could include early mornings or occasional weekends

Responsibilities

  • Mow lawns and maintain turf areas
  • Trim grass, shrubs, and landscaped areas
  • Edge sidewalks, curbs, and landscaped borders
  • Pull weeds and assist with general landscape maintenance
  • Empty and maintain outdoor trash and recycling receptacles
  • Assist with seasonal cleanup, including leaf removal and debris cleanup
  • Operate basic groundskeeping equipment safely and efficiently
  • Assist other campus departments with tasks or projects as needed
  • Help with Motor pool & Mail when needed
  • Follow safety procedures and campus policies at all times

Qualifications

  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Previous groundskeeping or maintenance experience preferred but not required

Advertised Salary

$11.00 to $12.00 an hour commensurate on experience

Outdoors, incumbents may not be protected from weather conditions and may be exposed to extreme heat and extreme cold, sun, and varying weather conditions Additionally, indoor or outdoor work environments may include being confined or in narrow spaces for periods of time.

 

The incumbent may also be exposed to loud noises or vibrations from equipment, and conditions that may affect the respiratory system, such as fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and poor ventilation. Bending, crawling, and crouching may be required. Incumbents may be required to perform physical labor for extended periods, such as to lift, push, and/or pull objects up to 50 pounds and be required to walk and/or stand for long periods of time. Employees must adhere to safety precautions and may be required to use protective equipment.
