About The Position

The Grants Manager is responsible for pre and post-award processes of applicant organization to the TSNRP Award Program, assuring compliance with grants sponsor and the customers requirements. The program is located at the Uniformed Services University in Bethesda, MD.

This is a fully remote, part time position (20 hours per week). A thorough government background check will be administered/required for clearance.

About The Program

The TriService Nursing Research Program funds nursing research to optimize the health of military members and their beneficiaries.

Salary Range

$40,000 - $50,000 Part Time. Salaries are determined based on several factors including external market data, internal equity, and the candidate’s related knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position.

Responsibilities

  • Review administrative and budgetary proposal elements (i.e. Biographical sketches, facilities and resources pages, budget and budget justifications, etc.) for submitted awards for funding Call for Proposals, receipt of proposals, Scientific Review Panels, Programmatic Review (Advisory Board) meetings, the Executive Board of Director Review meetings, and preparing funding notices.
  • Assist with development of the award with support documentation for the Grants Officer (GO), reviewing and assessing grant modification requests, developing grant modification requests, tracking budget and invoices, reviewing reports, and tracking closeouts.
  • Compile requested grant data for program reporting
  • Monitor sponsored program research for publications
  • Submit invoices to the program sponsor
  • Enter award data into the program’s database
  • Respond to interested investigators inquiries on call for proposals
  • Compile correspondence for notification of award, award start letter, and program communication with application organization and PI
  • Review interim, annual, and final submitted investigator reports for required elements
  • Ensure programs’ directory has current updated information on issued awards
  • Prepare content, and serve as an instructor at the Post Award Workshop
  • Submit sponsored research technical reports to required reporting databases
  • Provide administrative support to program panel meetings
  • Provide technical instruction at TSNRP grant camp, and grant briefings
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • 3-5 years experience in grant or contract administration required
  • 3-5 years non-profit, research, or healthcare experience desired
  • High degree of proficiency with DOD, NIH, and other federal funding agencies’ grant application electronic systems
  • Knowledgeable of federal regulations and policies relating to sponsored research including 2 CFR 200 and the FAR
  • Familiarity with web-based submission software (i.e. Cayuse 424)
  • Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication
  • Must be organized, attentive to detail, and possess a positive, friendly and professional demeanor
  • Must be flexible with changing priorities and able to communicate in a diplomatic and professional manner
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment in fast-paced, high-pressured environment with strict deadlines and to manage multiple projects
  • Computer skills including at least intermediate level experience with Excel and other Microsoft Office Software
  • Grant writing and management experience preferred
  • Health care background and knowledge of military system preferred
  • Ability to travel overnight
