About the role

This is an opportunity to become a key member of a growing venture fund focused on supporting therapeutic companies through capital investments and operational experience. 

With just 8 team members, our client manages a substantial $600MM fund, operating as the venture arm of a well-established private equity firm. Despite their small size, they've already made significant strides, with 10 investments in their first fund. The firm takes an active, hands-on approach, securing a board seat with each investment. This strategy fosters deep collaboration with portfolio companies. The close-knit team maintains a rigorous schedule, meeting twice weekly to discuss and manage diverse investment scenarios across all stages of development.

Our client is seeking a versatile individual to fill a business analyst role combined with administrative assistant responsibilities.

This unique position requires robust administrative skills to support the NY office and team while also possessing strong analytical and tech skills to contribute to the investment team as well as senior management. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, and adept at multitasking in a fast-paced environment. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, providing vital support in both administrative and analytical capacities. This position is located in NY and is a hybrid position, with at least 3 days in office.

Business Analyst Responsibilities

  • Support CFO on monthly and quarterly responsibilities with portfolio companies
  • Create travel invoices to portfolio companies, as needed
  • Prepare and maintain firm marketing deck 
  • Assist with quarterly board materials
  • Maintain and update weekly pipeline report
  • Maintain deal tracking databases & develop reporting to support the investment team 

Administrative Duties

  • Arrange travel logistics including flights, accommodations and transportation o Reconcile expenses and process reports on a timely basis 
  • Maintain organized electronic filing systems and ensure documentation is easily accessible
  • Help facilitate efficient office operations by ordering supplies and coordinating office maintenance
  • Perform other related duties as assigned 

Experience and Qualifications Required: 

  • US Citizen or Greencard holder
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience as a finance analyst or in business management 
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration or Finance 
  • Knowledge of an expense processing system such as Expensify or Concur 
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word) 
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and provide actionable insights 
  • Interest in the biotech & life sciences industry
