Research Officer - Reproduction and Perinatal Centre

About the opportunity

The Reproduction and Perinatal Centre (RPC) is an impact centre within the Faculty of Medicine and Health and aims to improve outcomes and quality of care for women, families and babies through our focus on research spanning fertility, conception and into pregnancy and birth.

We encourage patient and consumer participation in shaping and informing our research to improve long-term health outcomes in the field of reproduction, endocrinology, fertility, midwifery, obstetrics, neonatology and maternal fetal medicine.

This role supports the knowledge and expertise of the RPC research team to develop and strengthen the Centre’s qualitative research towards positive health outcomes for women and their families.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• carry out literature searches, code information, summarise literature, for the RPC investigator teams

• undertake planning and apply qualitative research methods including coordinating focus groups, preparing interview schedules, and conducting individual interviews

• source information, research and prepare drafts for research publications and presentations

• undertake appropriate research procedures in accordance with relevant ethics protocols

• perform work activities relevant to the role’s key accountabilities as approved by the Manager and commensurate to the role’s classification level.

About you

• experience in developing and working on research projects, including expertise in using qualitative frameworks, protocols and designs, ethics submissions and grant applications

• experience in patient recruitment and sample collection and processing

• excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills with sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills and have empathy and discretion in dealing with day-to-day operational matters

• strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative and exercise sound judgement and ability to prioritize workload during busy periods

• experience in working with women and families in public health, reproductive and perinatal care is desirable

• experience in, or knowledge of implementation science, public health, health promotion, health literacy and co-design is desirable.
