RESPONSIBILITIES

• Provide occupational health nursing services to include nursing assessment for fit for duty, preplacement screening, drug & alcohol testing program, compliance exams i.e.hearing conservation & respiratory protection and Wellness activities and programs.

• Develop & administer nursing care procedures & protocols with specific goals & interventions appropriate for emergency and general care for employee illness & injury as well as present various topics to educate site personnel.

• Manage the on-site Worker's Compensation program for workplace injuries and case management of the worker's compensation cases which includes troubleshooting issues for timely processing and resolution with carrier and all other parties involved. Consults with Garyville on case management.

• Responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential medical records in compliance within company and legal requirements in both Greensboro and Garyville.

• Provides coordination and training for the site 1st Responder program including CPR, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens & use of the Automatic External Defibrillator.

• Maintain professional credentials, certifications and continuing education requirements as necessary for this job.

• Work with additional on site company providing Respiratory Protection Program, Return to work, First Aid or Injury Management. (Per Contract Agreement)

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be a Registered Nurse licensed in the state of North Carolina. A COHN-S prepared RN is preferred.

• Bachelors of Science in Nursing or similar is required.

• Must have a minimum of 5 yrs nursing experience with or 3-5 yrs experience in Occupational Health Nursing, other experience i.e. Emergency room nursing may be considered.  

• Should have certification in audiometry and spirometry.  Should be familiar with environmental, safety, and health regulations ie. OSHA regulations and state nurse practice act.

• Should have some knowledge of Worker’s Compensation in North Carolina and/or experience in other states.  

• Must have sufficient training to perform a variety of medical and occupational health tasks.

• Must be able to work in close contact with all facility personnel and without close supervision.

• Must be able to perform independent, autonomous, nursing diagnoses and interface with Moses Cone Physician as needed.

• Must have knowledge base of requirements for confidential records.

• Must be experienced in the following Microsoft software: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
