What You Will Do:
- Pratt & Whitney Hot Section Engineering team is seeking a goal-oriented, detail-focused engineering leader to build, lead and develop a cross-discipline team of engineers at our airfoil manufacturing facility in Asheville, North Carolina (AVL).
- This Associate Director position will be responsible for the engineering support of the Asheville casting and machining product line, including technical leadership and production support.
- This position will be responsible for integration between the module-owning Component Integrated Product Teams (CIPTs), the part responsible Integrated Product Teams (IPTs), Engineering Support to Operations (ESTO), Asheville Operations, and Quality.
- This integration will also include support of existing products in the value stream, the introduction of new part numbers, and any new product design technologies into the Asheville manufacturing site.
- This position will also be responsible for engineering support of Model Based Definition, Manufacture and Inspection (MBDMI) to enable deployment at Asheville.
What You Will Learn:
- Selected candidate will learn about our advanced airfoil manufacturing site capabilities as well as learning about Airfoil IPT decisions leading to production configurations that balance maximizing the product time on wing benefits along with high yield, high rate production capability.
- Site manager will learn and help convey the understanding of the engine system / turbine implications to the part specific design & manufacturing challenges.
Qualifications You Must Have:
- BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field with 12+ years of relevant work experience
- Advanced degrees in a related field and 10+ years of relevant work experience
- US Citizenship is required, per government contracts.
Qualifications We Prefer:
- Broad understanding of Turbine airfoil design and manufacturing (casting, machining, coating), with 5+ years relevant experience
- Proven track record of leadership, innovation, and initiative.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to all levels of the organization
- Project management experience with demonstrated ability to coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines and manufacturing.
- The ability to build positive relationships across the internal customer base
- Master's Degree in Engineering.
