The FDVA Nursing State Veterans’ Nursing Homes and Domiciliary are designated employment sites for the Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program.
From funds available, the program may make nursing education loan repayments of up to $4,000.00 per year, per nurse enrolled in the program, for a maximum of four years.
Payment is made at the end of each 12-month enrollment period and made directly to the participant’s lender.
Enrollment and payment of awards is based on available funds.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends as required.
- Must have a valid Florida Registered Nursing license.
- Must have excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Successful completion of the employment screening process to include, but not limited to, a national background investigation and drug test.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous long-term care experience with geriatric population.
- Supervisory experience working in a long-term care facility.
- Valid CPR certification.
- Knowledgeable in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
The incumbent is responsible for providing quality professional care to the veteran residents to ensure their health, safety, and security in accordance with established agency Standard Operating Procedures and Nurse Practice Act.
- Provide initial and ongoing assessment of the resident population.
- Perform assigned duties to include, but not limited to, administration of medications and treatments per MD order, monitoring and providing interventions to meet the needs of the resident, completing accurate clinical documentation reflective of resident’s status and providing supervision and guidance to the RN, LPN, CNA, and other Allied Health Care Professionals.
- Works under the direct supervision of the Executive Nursing Director (DON).
