A Day in the Life
As a member of the Medtronic Diabetes – Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) Sensor R&D team, this Senior Scientist will support the development of biosensors and CGM. The Senior Scientist will contribute to the advancement of biosensing technologies and product realization.This position is an exciting opportunity to work with Medtronic's Diabetes business. Medtronic has announced its intention to separate the Diabetes division to promote future growth and innovation within the business and reallocate investments and resources across Medtronic, subject to applicable information and consultation requirements. This separation provides our team with a bold opportunity to unleash our potential, enabling us to operate with greater speed and agility. As a separate entity, we anticipate leveraging increased investments to drive meaningful innovation and enhance our impact on patient care.
The Senior Scientist role is in the Sensor R&D team with the focus on biosensor and CGM development.
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Responsible for the initiation, design, development, execution, and implementation of scientific research projects.
Investigates the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products.
Plans and executes laboratory research.
Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the art principles and theories and may contribute to scientific literature and conferences.
May participate in development of patent applications.
May coordinate interdepartmental activities and research efforts.
Required Knowledge and Experience: Requires a Bachelors degree and minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR Master's degree with a minimum of 2 years relevant experience OR PhD with 0 years relevant experience.
Nice to have:
Medical Device Industry Experience
Experience in design and characterization
Demonstrated knowledge of biosensing fundamentals and materials
Experience in clean room or laboratory environment
Knowledge of medical device product development cycle
