Scope:

  • This position is responsible for maintaining and troubleshooting all waste treatment systems with minimal supervision. while continuously maintaining effluent wastewaters within environmental regulatory limits. Prepare hazardous waste for treatment or shipment to a designated facility. Provides technical support and regulatory information of environmental operations to those within organization.  Maintain incoming water treatment systems to provide process water to all wet processes within manufacturing departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operates in accordance with all local, State and Federal regulations.
  • Performs routine and as needed analysis of solutions from the waste treatment systems.
  • Manages hazardous waste. Generates, accumulates, manifests, ships, and handles hazardous wastes generated in daily operations, as directed by the Environmental, Health and Safety Manager.
  • Repairs and maintains process equipment. Ability to maintain and manage each system with and without supervision.
  • Works effectively and responsibly with others in a professional manner.
  • Drive a fork lift in a safe manner.
  • Responsible to be available and willing to be a facility sweeper and/or emergency responder.
  • All other assigned duties as required within the EHS organization.
  • Accomplish all job related paperwork in the most accurate, timely and ethical manner.
  • Communicate regularly to supervisors/managers. ,
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment and communicate to supervisors/managers safety hazards as  well as environmental issues.
  • Properly handle and dispose of all waste, including hazardous wastes that are generated in daily operations as directed by the EHS department.
  • Responsible to report all accidents, near misses, unsafe acts and unsafe conditions. 
  • Perform job duties utilizing the required and appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).  Full participation in safety training and the ability to understand and follow directions identified in the Job Safety Analysis (JSA) , PPE Assessments, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and all Safety Procedures and Alerts.

Essential Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to communicate in the English language clearly, both written and verbal.  
  • Ability to comprehend and follow instructions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, assist other departments when workloads demand, and effectively work with all levels of the organization
  • Possess strong mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and have an safe driving record.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work overtime and flexible to work weekends when necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and sit or stand for up to 10 hours a day.
  • Consistent attendance is an essential job function of this position.
  • Due to ITAR requirements, applicants must be a U.S. Citizen or a Permanent Resident.

Education and Experience:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent with some technical training.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience running wastewater treatment systems
  • Experience in chemical handling and plating
