Job Description
Position Overview
The Vice President, Business Development will spearhead strategic growth initiatives for Sirtex Medical, focusing on expanding market share and portfolio innovation in oncology and interventional radiology. This Boston-based role (will consider remote with travel to corporate HQ [Boston, MA area] as needed) demands a forward-thinking leader with exceptional vision, business acumen, and proven ability to drive impactful partnerships globally.
- Strategic Growth Initiatives: Lead the formulation and implementation of Sirtex’s global business development strategy to expand portfolio innovation and market reach, aligning closely with oncology and interventional radiology trends.
- Partnership Development: Forge and manage high-impact partnerships, including joint ventures, licensing agreements, and acquisitions (small to medium sized deals), to elevate Sirtex’s competitive edge in the oncology sector.
- Market Intelligence: Drive deep analysis of global oncology and medical device markets, leveraging Boston’s vibrant life sciences ecosystem to identify and capitalize on growth opportunities.
- Deal Execution: Oversee the full cycle of business development transactions, including opportunity sourcing, due diligence, financial modeling, and contract negotiation, with a focus on long-term value creation.
- Collaboration with Leadership: Collaborate across functional teams, ensuring seamless integration of strategic initiatives into Sirtex’s operational framework.
- Stakeholder Communication: Deliver compelling business cases and strategic recommendations to senior leadership, ensuring alignment on long-term growth objectives.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree (MBA preferred) in Business, Life Sciences, or a related discipline; candidates with expertise in oncology or medical devices will be prioritized.
- Minimum of 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in business development or strategic partnerships within the healthcare or life sciences industry, strong preference for a focus on oncology or interventional radiology.
- Demonstrated success in executing complex deal negotiations, mergers, and acquisitions, with deep knowledge of healthcare regulations and market dynamics.
- Exceptional interpersonal, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders in a global context.

The target base salary range for this position will range from $247,170 to $308,963 annually. Individual compensation for this job requisition will be based on non-discriminatory factors, including your geographic location, skills, experience, education and other factors as they relate to the position requirements. Actual compensation may vary depending on the confirmed job-related skills and experience.
In addition to the expected base compensation, this role is eligible to participate in Sirtex’s incentive programs (target bonus of 25% for this position) and benefit plans, which include paid sick and vacation time, health insurance and a generous 401k matching program.
