This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at South Florida Reception Center in the Education Department.
Salary: $34,279.96 Annually
SALARY WILL BE DETERMINED IN ACCORDANCE WITH CURRENT PAY POLICY.
SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide instructional support in academic classrooms or other settings such as resource room, restrictive housing, medical infirmary, or mental health unit. The type of services shall include small group and individual instruction as directed by the Education Supervisor. The special education services provided must be aligned with the services documented in the student's IEP.
- Maintain Special Education program records including, but not limited to, classroom grades, attendance, disciplinary referrals, instructional support, conference notes, special education service logs, and documenting discussion during IEP meetings.
- Document all special education services provided to students with disabilities. Documentation may include notes generated by Special Education Teachers, Academic Classroom Teachers, Career and Technical Program Instructors, etc. Documentation is to be added to the conference notes (and uploaded files section when required) no less than once monthly.
- Develop and maintain a weekly schedule of job duties that will be completed throughout the week. This schedule must be provided to the Special Education Coordinator in Central Office no later than Friday prior to the week services are scheduled. (Example, the schedule submitted on 6/9/23 should be for the week of 6/12123 - 6/16/23)
- Attend conference, workshops, technical assistance calls, and meetings for program improvement, professional development, and Special Education program operation.
- Perform other related duties as assigned. Other duties shall be limited to those directly related to special education.
- Interview and obtain educational information for inmates 21 years of age or younger that enter the Department's reception centers as new intakes. This may include administering career interest inventories, obtaining signed consent to receive educational records, and providing information on educational opportunities available at sites designated for special education.
- Complete reception packet paperwork for all inmates under the age of 22.
- Mail required IDEA documents to inmate's parent/guardian/surrogate parent.
- Explain TABE assessment results and career interest inventory results to verified special education inmates.
- Contact school districts (in and out of state) to obtain documentation of the verified special education inmate's previous public, private, or charter school records. The records requested shall consist of IEPs, transcripts, psychological evaluations, medical records, disciplinary referrals, matrixes, copies of high school
