About the role

The University of Tennessee Foundation, Inc (UTFI) invites applications and nominations to fill the position of Assistant Director of Development for the College of Nursing at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the Assistant Director of Development is responsible for growing annual giving leadership and mid-level giving, strengthening the donor pipeline and supporting institutional wide fundraising priorities. 

Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

 

Portfolio Management: Manage a portfolio of leadership annual giving donors and prospects and mid-level donors and prospects (typically $500–$25,000+), cultivating and soliciting gifts that advance academic priorities. 

 

Engagement and Collaboration: Develop and execute personalized donor engagement strategies, including phone, email, virtual, and mail. Collaborate with Annual Giving, Advancement colleagues, and campus partners on shared appeals and donor stewardship initiatives such as Giving Day and Family Campaign. 

 

Data and Pipeline: Record all donor interactions in the CRM and use data to drive outreach, measure progress, and inform strategy. In collaboration with Prospect Management and HSC Development, conduct research and donor analysis across all colleges, with an heavy emphasis on College of Nursing, providing development officers with qualified pipelines aligned to departmental needs. 

 

Required Education and Experience 

The candidate who fills the Assistant Director of Development position is required to have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree 

  • 3+ years of experience in fundraising, donor relations, sales, marketing, or related fields with measurable results. 1+ year of experience with a Master’s. 

  • Strong communication skills, analytical ability, and capacity to manage a high volume donor portfolio. 

  • Experience with CRM systems and donor data; proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools. 

  • Ability to travel and participate in occasional evening/weekend activities.
