Responsibilities
We are seeking a Data scientist/Data Engineer to provide data engineering, diagnostic and statistical support for our NAVAIR customer in Lexington Park/Patuxent River, MD. Hybrid in office/Telework is available.
You will work on a variety of topics involving NAVAIR’s gas turbine engines, electrical and wiring systems, drive systems, and Auxiliary power units. Topics include: Flight data analysis, trend analyses, dashboard creation, data ingestion and ground station integration. Be part of an exciting team making a difference for the US Naval Air Forces.
What you will do…
Your primary duties will involve analyzing flight data and creating algorithms and dashboards to analyze trends of this data.
- You will perform scientific work that involves designing, developing, and adapting mathematical, statistical, econometric, and other scientific methods and techniques.
- You are expected to be proficient in the utilization of scientific tools, including: QLIK, Tableau, R, Python, SQL and other programming and dashboarding utilities. You will also be involved in analyzing platforms and creating algorithms to detect failures within the aircraft system.
- You will be required to apply knowledge of statistical methods, procedures, and techniques, to the collection, processing, compilation, computation, analysis, editing, and presentation of statistical data.
You will also be required to reduce and compute quantitative data where such work requires the use of mathematical techniques in connection with particular engineering and scientific activities.
Qualifications
2 years with BS/BA; 0 years with MS/MA; 6 years with no degree
You would be a great fit if you have…
- A minimum requirement of a BS degree in Data Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or other related technical field, and 5+ years of related academic or professional experience. An advanced degree (MS) is preferred; with an advanced degree you will be given preference.
- 2 - 3 years of experience with manipulating and analyzing large data sets
- 2 - 3 years of experience in advanced statistical techniques
- 2 - 3 years of experience with one or more of: QLIK, Tableau, R, Python, SQL and other programming and dashboarding utilities
- Experience with processing data through the Cloudera Data Science Workbench (CDSW)
- DOD Secret security clearance

Target Salary Range
