Written and physical fitness test: Friday, July 26th- Applicants selected to test will be notified by email. If selected, you must confirm attendance by Friday, July 19th.

Starting Salary: $55,450 (uncertified); $61,106 (certified)

Shift:  12-Hour Shifts – rotation of every other weekend off; Teams A & B, 5:45 am – 6:15 pm; Teams C & D, 5:45 pm - 6:15 am.

Public Safety Salary Step Structure

The Nashville International Airport's Department of Public Safety is a certified agency that provides full police service as well as aircraft fire rescue and emergency medical services to airport visitors.

The department adheres to all hiring, training and performance standards established by the Tennessee Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) Commission. The department is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA).

 Hiring Process:

• Submit employment application
• Applications are reviewed and dispositioned by DPS/Talent Acquisition
• Qualified applicants are invited to the written and physical fitness examinations
• Candidates passing the written and physical fitness examinations will be invited to complete the background investigation packet. Packet must be completed and returned to Talent Acquisition Specialist within five (5) days to continue in the process
• After DPS has completed the initial background check and confirmed with Human Resources that there are no issues with the candidate being considered for hire, an interview will be scheduled
• Interviews and selection
• Job Offer
• Final Background Check which includes: Ten (10) year background check, including criminal history check, motor vehicle check, credit check, pre-employment physical and psychological evaluation)
• Start date confirmed

• Tennessee Law Enforcement Training Academy
• Basic Fire Academy
• Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) School
• Field Training Officer (FTO) Program
