Short Description
Provides advanced clinical education and operational management of research protocols by evaluating potential new clinical trial opportunities, coordinating with clinical areas and educating team members, planning for and performing care of research patients on clinical trials, and managing oncology research nurse navigators. This job description for an Oncology Research Nurse Educator is a significant change to the existing job description of the Oncology Research Director of Operations in downgrading the position while maintaining a nurse educator and leader within the Research Department.
Evaluate the feasibility of new clinical trial opportunities by reviewing research protocols compared to operational capabilities.Coordinate care for patients who are newly enrolled on a clinical trial by educating Pharmacy, Infusion, Pathology, Radiology, and other service areas. Lead operational planning for new clinical trials and educate the service areas that will be involved in the research. Manage the Oncology Research Nurse Navigators within the Research Department at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. Provide clinical education on research studies to clinical staff members including CPNs, RNs, and Inpatient teams. Be a clinical resource to the Oncology Research Clinical Supervisor who manages the Clinical Research Coordinators and Data Management research team members. Directs Oncology Research Nurse Navigators in assignments and tasks in the clinical management of research patientsOversees efforts to identify patients who may be eligible for a clinical trial, including the nurses and technology that support this work. Maintains knowledge of research protocols, standard operating procedures to serve as a Research resource to educate the clinical teams. Provide direct patient care for research purposes including Epic documentation of study related visits.

3-5 Years Required
Oncology experience required, research experience preferred
Education Requirements
Bachelor's Degree on Nursing Required
