Job Description
Team:
As a Software Engineer within the Platform Security Core Organization, you will be responsible for leading key initiatives that help us improve the security, compatibility, performance, reliability, scalability, and feature set of our Authentication and Authorization Frameworks within ServiceNow platform. Our team is responsible for validating the identity and access for every incoming transaction within the platform. You will share your experience and skills with the team and learn from them in return.

What you get to do in this role:
- Design and develop core authentication, authorization features of the platform that will be used by our customers, applications to securely establish the desired identity and enforce access controls on its resources.
- Build high-quality, clean, scalable, and reusable code by enforcing best practices around software engineering architecture and processes (Code Reviews, Unit testing, etc.)
- Develop and Nurture forensic abilities to craft detailed Root Cause Analysis and mitigation plans for issues introduced by the security layer of the platform.
- Partner with the product owners to understand detailed requirements and own your code from design, implementation, test automation and delivery of high-quality products to our users.
- Champion ServiceNow platform security (Authentication/Authorization) best practices.
- Implement software that is simple to use to allow customers, applications to extend and customize the functionality to meet their specific needs.
- Contribute to the design and implementation of new products and features while also enhancing the existing product suite.
- Be a mentor for colleagues and help promote knowledge-sharing.
To be successful in this role you have:
- Passion for JavaScript and the Web as a platform, reusability, and componentization
- Experience with data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance/scale considerations
- Experience with backend caching techniques and relational databases including development, troubleshooting and performance optimization.
- Analytical, problem solving, critical thinking and design skills.
Qualifications
- 6+ years of experience with Java or a similar OO language
- Passion for JavaScript and the Web as a platform, reusability, and componentization
- Experience with data structures, algorithms, object-oriented design, design patterns, and performance/scale considerations
- Experience with any of the modern UI frameworks like Angular, React or Vue
- Analytical and design skills
- Ability to manage projects with material technical risk at a team level
