Direct care Registered Nurse applicants that have not been employed by the FDVA in the last 12 months may be eligible for a $3,500.00 sign-on bonus. OPS and non-direct care positions are not eligible for a sign-on bonus.
Excellent retirement package and optional deferred compensation plan. Health, vision, dental, disability, and other supplemental insurance available at reasonable premium rates. Paid vacation and sick leave. Nine (9) paid holidays and personal day. Tuition waiver available for State Universities and Community Colleges (up to 6 credits per semester).
The FDVA Nursing State Veterans’ Nursing Homes and Domiciliary are designated employment sites for the Nursing Student Loan Forgiveness Program.
- From funds available, the program may make nursing education loan repayments of up to $4,000.00 per year, per nurse enrolled in the program, for a maximum of four years.
- Payment is made at the end of each 12-month enrollment period and made directly to the participant’s lender.
- Enrollment and payment of awards is based on available funds.
Other Registered Nurse positions including OPS (Temporary) positions, may be filled from this advertisement within six (6) months of the closing date.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida.
- Knowledgeable in the use of computers to include Microsoft Suite, Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal skills.
- Current CPR certification.
- Willing to work weekends and holidays as required.
- Ability to communicate effectively in English; writing, reading, speaking and understanding.
- Successful completion of a level II background screening to include, but not limited to a drug test and finger printing.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Long-Term Care experience.
- Experience in passing medication.
- Knowledge of Matrix Care.
