About the role

Job Summary: 

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for planning, executing, and finalizing projects according to strict deadlines and within budget. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. The Senior Project Manager will also work with stakeholders to define the project’s objectives and oversee quality control throughout its life cycle. This role requires managing projects of varying scale and complexity, often involving the implementation of new technology, academic programs, or administrative processes within a shared governance environment. 

Supervisor Responsibility: 

This position has no direct managerial responsibility. 

Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Lead projects through deployment, identifying schedules, scopes, budget estimations, and implementation plans, including risk mitigation
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure that projects adhere to scope, schedule, and budget
  • Analyze project status and, when necessary, revise the scope, schedule, or budget to ensure that project requirements can be met
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant client stakeholders, providing timely and pertinent updates on project status and changes
  • Establish and maintain processes for managing scope during the project lifecycle, setting quality and performance standards and assessing risks
  • Develop and maintain partnerships with third-party resources, including vendors
  • Assign and monitor resources to ensure project efficiency and maximize deliverables
  • Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate management channels and escalate issues, as necessary, according to project work plan
  • Document finalized internal processes in a consistent manner across business units
  • Prepare and deliver training materials for employees
  • Provide service to the University through activities such as involvement in FNU shared governance (e.g.committees, workgroups), FNU sponsored activities (e.g.charity drives, community-outreach activities), and/or service to the profession (e.g.presentations, professional organization committee work).

 Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex projects, preferably in a higher education, non-profit, or public sector environment. Preferably experience managing large-scale IT or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system implementations (e.g., Ellucian Banner/Colleague).
  • Experience with business process analysis and re-engineering.
  • Familiarity with higher education governance, culture, and administrative processes.
  • Strong familiarity with project management software (e.g., MS Project) and methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of stakeholders, including faculty, staff, and students.

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 3-5 years of direct experience ina projectmanagement capacity, including all aspects of project development and execution.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or CertifiedAssociate in Project Management(CAPM) certification. Agile (e.g., CSM, PMI-ACP) or change management certification is a strong plus.
