Partnering with Product Family Director, the Product Owner is responsible for developing, maintaining, and presenting the vision, strategy and consumer facing roadmaps for the STaaS Product capabilities in alignment with the BT Technical Strategy and Operation Capabilities. The Product Owner should have in-depth knowledge of Block Storage, Network Attached Storage, Object Storage, Backup Infrastructure and Storage Area Networks.
Product Owner ensures an outcome for a product is delivered that meets the requests from stakeholders and customers. This requires a fundamental understanding of the business and its constraints (financial, marketing, compliance, legal, service, the customer environment, the technical capabilities, the user experience, etc.) in order to provide a solution that satisfies all stakeholders and customers Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for defining, prioritizing, and accepting initiatives and features, in partnership with consumers and Architects, including acceptance criteria.
- Accountable for managing the product pipeline (feature backlog) and delivery of these features for every release and iteration.
- Responsible for delivery of features and accountable for the delivery of User Stories, in partnership with the Scrum Master and Team
- Manage initiatives and features from a consumer perspective. Identifies, communicates, and breaks down features to define MVP.
- Responsible for clarifying and communicating features to the delivery team in collaboration with the Product Area Director
- Responsible for writing, refining, and updating user stories in an agile management tool, ensuring the team backlog stays full and prioritized.
- Plays a significant role in quality and is the only team member empowered to accept features and user stories as complete.
- Partners with Product Area Director, and Architects on the Product vision/roadmap and initiative prioritization/delivery.
- Responsible for setting the Objectives and Key Results (OKR’s) encompassing their span of control.
- Responsible for managing product budget/financials, vendor management, risk management, and compliance per Discover policies and procedures.
- Accountable for managing product total cost of ownership (TCO)
- Ensures the team builds the right product or solution as required in accordance with the Architectural specifications and in alignment with the product roadmap and vision.
- Engages with stakeholders, Product Owners, and Architects to understand consumer needs.
- Partners with Chapter Leads to provide input on team member performance.
- Ensures an outcome for a product is delivered that meets the requests from stakeholders and customers. - Actively manages and escalates risk and customer-impacting issues within the day-to-day role to management.
- Interacts and collaborates with stakeholders on key product considerations and aligns with product vision, features and roadmap. Leverages customer insights, feedback, financials, compliance and risk data to define product features and roadmap in partnership with other SMEs.
- Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Objects and Key Results (OKRs) for the product team and ensure alignment with senior leadership (e.g., SPO, Dir, etc.). Creates and/or maintains key product documentation (e.g., customer journey map, technical specs, process mapping, etc.).
