Job Description

This role leads a team of engineers and product team members supporting the Market Solutions Large Group and Portfolio product teams in defining and delivering health insurance products. The team ensures accurate product configuration, rating, and documentation to support compliant and scalable product offerings. 

The role focuses on improving the overall experience of doing business with Wellmark by enabling efficient data extracts, streamlining renewals, and simplifying new group onboarding. Emphasis is placed on data integrity, rating accuracy, and clear documentation to drive seamless, efficient, and reliable execution. 

Lead and direct cross-functional technology teams through the full solution lifecycle—planning, analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and ongoing support—to deliver software systems and vendor solutions that advance Wellmark’s strategic initiatives. Ensure delivered capabilities align with enterprise architecture standards and quality expectations and provide strong production support and operational stability. Identify and influence opportunities to modernize technology and improve processes to reduce cost, elevate service, mitigate risk, and strengthen competitive advantage. Develop and mentor application staff, building both business acumen and technical capability across the organization. 

Qualifications

Preferred:  

  • SAFe and/or Product Model training and experience  

Required Experience to be considered:  

  • Bachelor's degree or direct and applicable work experience.  
  • Minimum 4+ years of experience managing the implementation and support of a technical solution through the full software development life cycle. This includes experience in leadership, typically gained through formal or informal leadership that demonstrates knowledge of work processes, products and services, and leadership competencies.  
  • Demonstrated planning and implementation skills.  
  • Ability to apply job-specific skills to make value-added contributions that align with evolving business strategies.  
  • Consultative and analytical skills to lead the team to appropriate decisions and recommendations.   
  • Demonstrated ability to express complex concepts clearly and concisely in writing and verbally. Experience in managing and analyzing complex information.   
  • Excellent problem solving and negotiation skills   
  • Ability to influence and motivate others who are direct reports as well as those from other divisions and departments, including change management, creating a sense of urgency and teachable points of view.   
  • Demonstrated ability to utilize excellent time management.  
  • Experience in health or financial services industry technology.   
  • Strong knowledge of systems, products and infrastructure, including all aspects of information technology for an organization of similar size, and applicable technology trends.  
  • Knowledge of state and federal health care regulations.  
  • Travel required up to 5 percent.  
  • Proficiency in HROR highly preferred
