About You

We are looking for an experienced Packaging and Retail Designer to join the Nutrafol Creative team and help shape the way we show up in the world: elevated, minimalist, and human-centric. Ideally, you have experience with an in-house team, collaborating with multiple departments. You are passionate, knowledgeable, and experienced in all things packaging and visual merchandising. You have amazing 3D skills, but also have a graphic designer���s eye for typography and layout with a fine eye for detail. Reporting to our Design Director, and working alongside the Senior Manager of Retail and Packaging, you will create work that continues to elevate the Nutrafol brand. This contract is for an initial term of 6 months at approximately 40 hours per week, with the possibility to extend or convert to a permanent position in the future.

 

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of Sephora gondolas, partnering with Creative, Marketing and Copy departments to realize design and strategic vision
  • Own process of concepting, design, production and fabrication to deliver real life experiences flawlessly
  • Support packaging design and development, including updates to current packaging
  • Conceptualize dimensional displays through hand sketching, references, building in 3D and rendering
  • Create technical drawings and guidelines for the designs created
  • Conceptualize, design, and create production ready files for visual merchandising graphic elements
  • Present concepts, and report on the status of current projects in team meetings as needed
  • Maintain awareness of current trends in visual arts and merchandising
  • Travel as necessary to complete in-store site visits and observe counters in action, and/or  to approve production, research trends and materials
  • Manage timeline of deliverables over various floor sets


Requirements

  • 6 years experience in retail and packaging with beauty brands or similar
  • Well-rounded static design skills, including an eye for detail and a passion for/understanding of photography and art direction
  • Poficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign)
  • Ability to execute 3D packaging designs in addition to Visual Merchandising with experience working in 3D programs (Rhino + Keyshot preferred)
  • Demonstrated understanding and passion for materials, with a focus on sustainability
  • Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes, cost, and time requirements of dimensional design
  • Entrepreneurial: able to bring new ideas to the table, express them clearly and concisely, and execute on them
  • Great communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Appetite for problem-solving and a love for fast-paced, constantly-changing environments.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to receive feedback as needed
  • Available for occasional business travel

Preferred:

  • Ability to build mechanicals and release production-ready art
  • Set design experience

The anticipated pay range for this contract is $60-$80 USD per hour. Nutrafol takes a variety of factors into consideration in determining final compensation, including skills & experience, training, licensure and certifications, education, and other business and organizational needs.
