Physician Assistant – General Surgery

Park Nicollet Clinic 

Park Nicollet is looking for a fulltime Surgical PA to join our General Surgery team.  Being a part of our team means you will have an impact on the care that our patients receive every day.

In this collaborative position you will assist general surgeons at Methodist Hospital.  Candidates must have graduated from an accredited PA program.  Previous experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

Patient Assessment and Care:

•     Conduct initial consultations including history, physical examination, and ordering relevant diagnostic tests.

•     Develop and implement patient care plans based on clinical assessment and diagnosis.

•     Perform post-operative care and follow-up, including wound care, suture removal, and monitoring for complications.

Clinic Procedures:

•     Perform minor surgical procedures independently, such as incision and drainage of abscesses, removal of small skin lesions, and wound debridement.

Patient Education and Counseling:

•     Educate patients and their families about surgical procedures, post-operative care, and recovery expectations.

•     Provide counseling on lifestyle modifications, medication management, and preventive health measures.

•     Address patient concerns and answer questions regarding their treatment plans and recovery.

Quality Improvement and Compliance:

•     Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and clinic efficiency.

•     Ensure compliance with clinic protocols, regulatory requirements, and best practice guidelines.

•     Monitor and report adverse events, complications, and other clinical issues to maintain patient safety.

Administrative Duties:

•     Assist with triage of new consultations with chart review and outreach to referring providers 

•     Contribute to the development and implementation of clinic policies and procedures.

By fulfilling these responsibilities, an Advance Practice Clinician in a general surgery clinic plays a crucial role in delivering high-quality surgical care, ensuring patient safety, and improving clinic operations.
