The Turquoise Ridge capital projects team are looking for a Sr. Mechanical Project Engineer at our Turquoise Ridge operations, north of Winnemucca, Nevada. The successful candidate will assist and support team members with assigned aspects of mining, process plant and general site electrical infrastructure revitalization projects. The Turquoise Ridge mine site is an exciting property and has recently extended its mine life by 20+ years with a high-grade underground ore-zone extension. Due to the age of the facility, much infrastructure requires modernization, inspection, and rehabilitation.

Responsibilities:
- Assist and lead project definition, scoping, costing, approval, design, permitting and construction activities of mining and processing infrastructure projects;
- Project portfolio is currently consisting of:
- Atmospheric process tank assessments and rehabilitation
- Design and construction of a Reverse Osmosis plant expansion
- Miscellaneous infrastructure assessments and rehabilitation, including compressed air receivers, process and utility piping, boilers, structural steel, etc.
- Tailings slurry pumping and piping systems, including systems for a new tailings facility
- Upgrading miscellaneous process equipment to state-of-the-art, including screen decks, tramp metal removal systems, conveyor systems, carbon regeneration kilns, O2 plant compressors, air compressors, pumps, etc.
- Support underground mine infrastructure projects, including mine backfill equipment, design/construct paste plant, mine hoist drive/clutch/brake upgrades, dewatering and ventilation projects
- Work closely with Health, Safety, Environmental (HSE), Permitting, Asset Management, Reliability, Operations and Technical Services, to research, analyze and provide supporting documents for work inclusion in project scopes
- Supervise, mentor, and manage assigned technical staff
- Assist the Environmental (HSE)/Permitting group in obtaining required permits to prevent delays in construction, commissioning, and final handover to the plant
- Research and provide information for inclusion in project scopes of work subsequent contracts, procurement orders, required supporting documentation, and performs other duties as assigned
- Formulate project parameters, and assist in monitoring progress to address constraints
- Act as primary liaison between the project execution team and the design engineering team
- Support project execution through project controls, cost forecasting, scheduling, quantity surveying and reconciliation and earned value management
- Preform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in mechanical or industrial engineering or a related field required
- Six (6) to Ten (10) years of mechanical engineering experience, in a mining, mineral processing, heavy industrial or industrial construction environment, required
- Knowledge of standard project delivery models and methods, including PMI’s PMBOK knowledge areas, basic stage gate project steps (scoping/concept/feasibility/implementation/ closeout), project controls/tracking, estimating, etc. required
- Knowledge of the fundamentals of DROM (Design for Reliability, Operability, and Maintainability) and OR (Operational Readiness) principles required
- Commitment to safety for self and others as well as embracing environmentally friendly work practices required
- Contract management experience preferred
- Proficient with industry standard software products including the MS Office suite, CAD software, SAP, Windows, required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- Familiar with Operational Readiness practices and how to apply them preferred
- Ability to perform Underground Mine scoping and technical support tasks required
- Familiar with Reliability Engineering and condition-based monitoring practices preferred
- Business Improvement, Resource Planning, experience preferred
