Job Description

We are hiring a Dental Assistant Program Director and Faculty position for our new Dental Assistant program at Anoka-Ramsey Community College. The purpose of this position is to manage, plan and implement the Dental Assisting program in support of the college and departmental goals in order to assure compliance with programmatic accreditation and licensure (maintain CODA accreditation compliance and documentation). Ensuring internal consistency, and graduate outcomes to meet placement expectations is included in the role of the program director.

This position includes leading in curriculum development and coordination, ongoing evaluation of admission criteria and processes, determining teaching assignments, and budget preparation and fiscal administration in collaboration with the Dean of Nursing and Allied Health. The director position is also responsible for organizing instructional approaches to teaching courses, providing assistance in the selection of faculty, and selection/coordination of program specific external facilities and instruction.

The position also includes providing professional leadership and support for teaching faculty; serves as a mentor and facilitator for faculty assigned; and enables an environment which fosters creativity, responsiveness, and self-responsibility. Teaching is also a part of this job to ensure a full-time position in designated field based upon the needs and/or student enrollments in the program Monitoring and analyzes student attrition and retention data and works with other college leaders to develop initiatives that can be implemented to improve retention

This position will be located at the Cambridge Campus.

Minimum Qualifications

Education Requirement

  • Bachelor degree and graduate of an accredited dental assisting program.

Occupational Experience Requirement

  • Three full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience as a dental assistant.

Recency Requirement

  • One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.

Professional Requirement

  • Dental Assistant certification by the Dental Assisting National Board (DANB). Current Dental Assistant License from the Minnesota Board of Dentistry.

  • Instruction in educational theory and methodology, e.g., curriculum development, educational psychology, test construction, measurement and evaluation.

Preferred Qualification 

  • Teaching experience in Dental Assisting

  • Experience with program coordination

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion in a clinical and/or classroom setting.

  • Diverse clinical experience.

  • Communication skills sufficient to effectively teach in a diverse multicultural and multiracial community.

SALARY & BENEFITS

Full-time faculty salaries are based on an evaluation of education and related experience after a job offer has been accepted and currently range from $51,303 -$94,592.  Full-time faculty work 171 days during a nine-month academic year and receive excellent benefits including health insurance, life insurance, dental insurance, short and long-term disability, paid personal and sick leave, retirement savings plans, tuition waiver for employees and dependents, professional development funds, along with many optional benefit programs.
