JOB TITLE:   

Network Security Analyst, Sr. 

JOB PURPOSE:

Under limited supervision, maintain the daily management and compliance of the universities network and systems security policies, standards, guidelines and procedures to prevent unauthorized access to our university systems

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

•    Maintain network access controls, firewall rules, Vlans, and VPN security controls for the campus wired and wireless network
•    With coordination with the security team maintain best security practices on servers, endpoints, cloud solutions, through management and compliance with security policies, standards, guidelines, and procedures
•    Monitor and maintain monitoring systems and policies, including processing and responding to alerts and alarms. This includes removal of threats from the network and recommending ongoing improvements and changes to UW's security posture
•    Troubleshoot client issues related to security as part of our Tier 3 support
•    Assist in employee education and awareness training
•    Respond to security incidents, investigate security breaches, and assist with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such breaches as necessary
•    Assist with working with outside consultants as appropriate for independent security audits

REMOTE WORK ELIGIBILITY: 

This position provides vital support to campus customers and requires the successful candidate be available to work on campus.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education: Bachelor’s degree

Experience: 4 years work experience managing enterprise firewalls and configuring and troubleshooting VPNs. 

Required licensure, certification, registration or other requirements:  None

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  

  • Experience utilizing a SIEM to respond to alerts and hunt threats on the network
  • Experience utilizing a vulnerability assessment tool like Rapid7 to remediate vulnerabilities on the network
  • Experience conducting forensic investigations of cybersecurity threats
  • Experience automating security tasks like firewall ruleset maintenance.
