THE JOB:
The Veterinary Technician will support the attending veterinarian and animal care management team by providing veterinary and technical assistance. Additionally, the Veterinary Assistant is primarily responsible for assisting the Ohio State Racing Commission Veterinarian with the testing and post-race care of horses at Northfield Park.

THE STARTING RATE:$16.46

THE DAY-TO-DAY:

• Assist veterinarians with testing, biological sample evaluation, procedures, treatments, and postmortem studies, ensuring compliance with regulations.

• Manage the processing, testing, and packaging of blood samples, preparing supplies for veterinary procedures.

• Procure and maintain laboratory and veterinary equipment and supplies.

• Cleaning your designed stalls/barns

• Communicate regularly with the Veterinarian and Animal Care Department Director.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:

• Possesses previous experience working with horses and is comfortable handling them

• Able to lift up to 50 lbs

• Has experience with Microsoft Office

• Must have a strong work ethic, dedication to Northfield Park and a commitment to the racing industry

• Has the ability to maintain a calm, composed presence in an often-challenging environment where multiple tasks and events may occur simultaneously

• Must be able to obtain an Ohio State Racing Commission license
