About the role

The Tepper School of Business is home to many programs and research programs that cross subject areas. We approach scientific problems from fresh angles using creative interdisciplinary approaches while drawing on our strengths in the core social sciences. Tepper faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized for their research in a variety of fields, including organizational behavior and theory, economics, finance, and accounting.

Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business is searching for a Research Assistant to join their team.  This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by providing support by working closely with Professor Scheller-Wolf and his research team to support research into circularity of solar panels.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with the professor and research team

  • Data analysis

  • Independent research

  • Literature search (academic and practitioners)

  • Work with industry partner in India

  • Other duties as assigned

You should demonstrate:

  • Expertise in the physical structure of solar cells (Si and CaTe), material sourcing and different recycling technologies

  • Ability to evaluate different recycling technologies from a financial, environmental, and regulatory standpoint

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required

  • 0-1 year of experience required

  • Knowledge of the academic industry in India is preferred

  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.

Requirements:

  • Successful pre-employment background check

Additional Information:

  • Sponsorship: Applicants for this position must be currently legally authorized to work for CMU in the United States. CMU will not sponsor or take over the sponsorship of an employment visa for this opportunity.  Carnegie Mellon is not a qualifying employer for the STEM OPT benefit: only the 12-month OPT may be used to work at Carnegie Mellon.
