About the role

Position Overview

The Technical SEO Manager is responsible for leading the technical strategy, implementation, and performance validation of organic search initiatives across web properties. This role owns technical audits, complex site migrations, structured data implementation, indexation governance, and post-launch monitoring to ensure scalable, search-optimized digital experiences.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical SEO expertise with strong communication skills and cross-functional collaboration across engineering, UX, Strategy and content teams.

This is a temporary part-time opportunity expected to last through the end of July 2026. Hours will vary week to week, but you can expect around 15 hours per week. If client needs continue, there’s a strong possibility the role could be extended.

 

Key Responsibilities

Technical SEO Leadership

  • Lead comprehensive technical SEO audits across enterprise and mid-market websites
  • Identify and prioritize crawlability, indexation, rendering, site architecture, and performance issues
  • Develop actionable roadmaps aligned to business objectives and technical feasibility
  • Serve as the primary SEO stakeholder in cross-functional technical initiatives
  • Site Migrations & Launch Oversight
  • Own end-to-end SEO strategy for website redesigns, replatforming, domain consolidations, and structural migrations
  • Develop and validate redirect mapping strategies (301/302 logic, parameter handling, canonical alignment)
  • Lead migration planning including URL structure governance, taxonomy alignment, and indexation safeguards
  • Conduct staging environment crawl reviews to validate:
    • Crawl accessibility
    • Canonical logic
    • Internal linking integrity
    • Metadata parity
    • Structured data implementation
  • Execute redirect QA and validation prior to launch
  • Lead launch-day SEO validation protocols
  • Conduct post-launch monitoring and stabilization
  • Crawlability, Indexation & Canonical Governance
  • Define canonicalization logic and indexation frameworks across templates and page types
  • Diagnose and remediate duplicate content, parameter sprawl, and crawl budget inefficiencies
  • Develop robots.txt, XML sitemap, and internal linking strategies
  • Partner with engineering to implement scalable indexation rules
  • Structured Data & Schema Implementation
  • Develop and implement structured data strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Create and validate JSON-LD schema across content types (e.g., Article, Product, FAQ, Organization, Breadcrumb, etc.)
  • Monitor rich result eligibility and structured data errors
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate scalable schema deployment processes

 

Taxonomy & Site Architecture

  • Design and optimize website taxonomies to support search intent, scalability, and internal linking efficiency
  • Build logical category hierarchies that enhance crawl paths and distribute authority effectively
  • Partner with content and UX teams to align user journeys with SEO best practices
  • Recommend URL structure strategies aligned with long-term growth

 

Required Qualifications

4+ years of hands-on technical SEO experience

Proven experience leading complex website migrations (replatforming, domain consolidation, large-scale restructuring)

 

Deep understanding of:

Crawl mechanics and rendering (JavaScript SEO familiarity preferred)

HTTP status codes and redirect logic

Canonical and indexation frameworks

XML sitemaps and robots.txt governance

Structured data (Schema.org, JSON-LD)

Log file analysis (preferred)

Proficiency with SEO and crawling tools (e.g., Screaming Frog, Sitebulb, Botify, DeepCrawl, Ahrefs, Semrush)

Experience using Google Search Console and Google Analytics

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

 

Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with enterprise CMS platforms (e.g., Adobe Experience Manager, Sitecore, WordPress, headless CMS environments)

Familiarity with front-end frameworks and rendering models (SSR, CSR, hybrid rendering)

Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Experience collaborating with engineering teams in Agile environments

Agency experience managing multiple client accounts
