The University of Southern Maine’s Counseling Services is seeking a Clinical Director.
Our University Counseling Services promote emotional growth, well-being, and academic success for a diverse student body. Counseling Services provide culturally sensitive mental health and learning services, prevention programming and outreach, and training for emerging mental health professionals. Counseling and Health Services work collaboratively to provide outstanding clinical services for students.
The Clinical Director is responsible for the clinical operations of the University of Southern Maine Counseling Services. The Clinical Director functions as the clinical supervisor for all Counseling professional staff and shares in the supervision of graduate assistants. This position is responsible for establishing, monitoring, and analyzing the budget in conjunction with the Associate Vice President for Student Affairs, the Training Director, and University finance partner. The Director sets priorities, establishes annual programmatic goals, and develops policy and procedures to ensure quality mental health care for USM students. This position provides consultation to staff and faculty regarding mental health issues in the USM community and is responsible for arranging for 24-hour emergency mental health assessment and intervention for clinical emergencies of high-risk students. The Clinical Director is also a member of the University of Southern Maine Critical Incident Response Team. This position also provides direct clinical services to students. The Director represents the University of Southern Maine Counseling Services at key meetings at the University and maintains and nurtures community relationships to ensure continuity of care with the wider community.
This is a full-time, 11-month (the month of June off) position with a starting annual salary up to $71,000 located on our Portland Campus, with expectation of work/service in Gorham and Lewiston.
