As a Senior Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Home Lending organization, you are an integral part of the team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. Drive significant business impact through your capabilities and contributions, and apply deep technical expertise and problem-solving methodologies to tackle a diverse array of challenges that span multiple technologies and applications.

Job responsibilities

  • Regularly provides technical leadership and guidance across engineering team, ensuring best practices are followed in software development.
  • Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes.
  • Guides teams on the use of architecture, coding patterns, languages, and frameworks in accordance with industry standards.
  • Leads design and architecture of complex software systems, ensuring scalability performance and security.
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.
  • Mentor and coach junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a culture of continues learning and improvement.
  • Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus.
  • Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firm wide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Drive continues improvement in software engineering practices, tools, and processes.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand requirements, provide progress updates, and manage expectations.
  • Adds to the team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect.

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering* concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
  • Advanced hands-on with Java technologies/frameworks such as Spring/Spring Boot, Spring JPA/Hibernate, REST based services, etc
  • Expertise in Java Core concepts, including object-oriented design, memory management, multi-threading/concurrency, and new language features up to Java 17
  • Experience with Kafka and Kubernetes
  • Hands-on SQL optimization knowledge and Oracle database
  • Advanced knowledge of software applications and technical processes with considerable in-depth knowledge in one or more technical disciplines (e.g., cloud, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile, etc.)
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight.
  • Practical cloud native experience
  • Experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS. (Understanding and working experience in AWS applications, and understanding of resiliency, scalability, observability, monitoring, etc.)
  • Ability to adapt to new technologies and learn quickly in a fast-paced environment
  • Front-end technologies such as React, JavaScript, or Angular
  • Experience in Machine Learning (ML) / Large Language Model (LLM) application, data and infrastructure architecture disciplines, and solving business problems.
