Your Role:
The Account Executive is responsible for securing new funders for Southern California Public Radio’s news and information public radio service, LAist 89.3 FM and the SCPR network of Southern California affiliates (89.1 KUOR FM/Riverside, 90.3 KVLA-FM/Coachella, 89.5 KJAI-FM/Ojai, 89.9 K210AD-FM/Santa Barbara); LAist.com, and SCPR.org to meet new income targets. This position fundraises, services, renews, and increases funding levels of current and news clients through cross-platform offerings, including radio, digital, podcast, events, and new products as developed. Account Executive assists with other development and marketing activities as assigned.
LAist 89.3 FM - Pasadena/Los Angeles and the SCPR network of Southern California affiliates (89.1 KUOR FM/Riverside, 90.3 KVLA-FM/Coachella, 89.5 KJAI-FM/Ojai, 89.9 K210AD-FM/Santa Barbara, provide news and information programming drawing on the best of National Public Radio, American Public Media, Public Radio International and a growing staff of news and radio professionals covering Southern California, its people, events and issues. Currently serving more than 500,000 diverse listeners throughout Los Angeles, Orange and Riverside Counties; Palm Springs, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties. Southern California Public Radio (SCPR) operates KPCC and KUOR under long-term agreements and owns KVLA and KJAI; and is a nonprofit organization formed for this purpose. This is an opportunity to join SCPR, dedicated solely to public service communications for the citizens of Southern California.
Location: Pasadena, CA
Compensation: First year of employment, $100k base, plus commission. After first year $60k base, plus commission This rate is determined by experience and / or education related to the role, organizational compensation structure, and internal equity.

Your Responsibility:
- Meet budget goals for on-air, digital, podcast, and event services.
- Identify new underwriting prospects using broadcast, print and online media; trade publications (marketing, advertising, industry specific); and business contacts.
- Prepare written and in-person presentations designed to meet prospect needs and resources.
- Communicate new business results to Director and Vice President, Underwriting. Generate reports to show income generated from prospect conversions. (Weekly and/or monthly.)
- Work with prospects and internal staff to prepare effective and acceptable underwriting credits.
- Identify online sponsorship and advertising opportunities for both current clients and prospects.
- Utilize support systems such as Wide Orbit traffic, billing, contact management, Nielsen/Tapscan/Qualitap, and other prospecting tools.
- Represent Southern California Public Radio with integrity, professionalism, respect and mature judgment.
- Assist with other development and marketing activities as assigned.
- Work collaboratively with the sales team and colleagues across departments.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum two (2) years sales experience in broadcasting or other media.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- Proven track record of successfully meeting income targets through both prospecting and client upgrades.
- Demonstrated time management skills.
- Must be self-motivated, results oriented, a persuasive communicator, and goal focused.
- Ability and eagerness to sell in a challenging start up environment focused on building a significant public service media company for Southern California.
- Excellent communication skills are a must.
- Looking for a curious mind, a team player, energetic and a strong presence.
