The Boeing C-17 Development, Sub-Systems and Hardware team is currently looking for a Senior Project Engineer to join their team in Long Beach, CA. This organization supports Boeing’s C-17 Program, the world's premier military airlift capability. You will be the team lead for the Avionics Integrity Program (AVIP), Avionics Working Group (AWG) and Avionics Supply Focused IPT. This position will be responsible for the execution of these efforts, reaching across the entire C-17 program, customer and supply base as required. An ideal candidate will be self-motivated, organized, responsive and able to fully manage their work assignment. A priority for quality and customer satisfaction will be extremely important.
We are looking for an experienced Avionics Engineer, with a background in sustaining military platforms. C-17 experience is a plus. The ideal candidate will have a working knowledge of MIL-STD-1796A and experience improving operational readiness and mission success of avionics, as well as reducing demand for maintenance manpower and logistic support. This person will have a solid foundation in Avionics sub-systems and hardware. The ability to communicate and present information to all members in the product life cycle will be required, including USAF Engineering, USAF Maintenance Personnel, Program Leadership, Engineering, Supply Chain, RM&A, Quality and Suppliers. An understanding of both USAF and sub-tier vendor logistical operations is highly recommended. Strong problem solving skills, data analysis skills and experience with Obsolescence management are highly recommended. Knowledge of Contract, Project and Sub-Contract Management is recommended.
Position Responsibilities:
Provides the Engineering leadership to a team representing multiple skill areas, which may include internal and external resources and customers
Develops statement of work (SOW) to satisfy research and development, ongoing and new business requirements
Works with customers and management to obtain approval. Identifies and manages changes to statement of work and assesses the impact of those changes, and incorporates changes into statement of work
Negotiates proposed changes to determine modifications to the deliverables, resources, costs and schedules
Leads project execution to complete the work statement. Identifies performance metrics
Plans, identifies and coordinates resources required over the life of the project or program
Assigns responsibility for activities to team members and ensures technical correctness and consistency of products and services
Directs proposal development to complete the work statement
Compares actual results to baseline plan to assess project performance, efficiencies, productivity and lessons learned
Identifies corrective actions to improve project or team performance
Provides technical, business and integration leadership for the development and execution of project or team plans
This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
10+ years of experience integrating and managing electrical/avionics hardware or subsystems
Experience executing Avionics Integrity Program (AVIP) or experiences to achieve high reliability, long life, safe operation, and supportability of aviation electronics in operational environments<
