Opening its doors in 2013 and expanding in 2017, this state-of-the-art acute care facility has 177 patient rooms and offers a wide variety of services to meet community needs. The Critical Care Transport (CCT) Team is available 24/7 to provide immediate medical treatment to patients presenting with various critical injuries, illnesses and concerns. In this role, fast thinking and processing are essential, as every second counts in an emergency. Your tireless efforts help improve outcomes and make a lasting difference in the lives of patients, their families and your fellow caregivers. In this role, your primary work location will be at Tradition Hospital, with occasional travel to other CC hospitals as needed.
A caregiver in this role works day/evening/night/weekend shifts from 12:00 a.m. -- 11:30 p.m. with on-call availability and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide immediate medical treatment to critically ill or injured patients throughout the interfacility or scene transport process.
- Navigate an ambulance to respond to emergency calls and maintain equipment.
- Assess the nature and extent of the illness or injury, communicate with medical personnel at the hospital, report/record observations and follow directives until report and hand-off at hospital.
- Perform drug/fluid administration.
- Administer appropriate emergency medical care including life support procedures and decontamination protocols.
- Function as an advocate for the patient and their family by supplying and interpreting information, supporting decisions and facilitating communication.
- Conduct point-of-care laboratory testing as part of patient care and participate in requisite point-of-care testing maintenance procedures as applicable.
- Participate in Performance Improvement projects for the department/hospital and serve on committees/task force for the hospital and/or department.
- Operate emergency vehicles safely in accordance with department policy and procedures.
- Perform daily vehicle safety and readiness checks, reporting any actual and potential hazards.
- Travel in assigned modes of transport for up to extended periods of time to provide care for patients.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma/GED
- Completion of an accredited EMS-Paramedic Training Program
- Current state or national licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P or PMD)
- Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certifications through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
- Completion of a Newborn Resuscitation Program (NRP) within six months of hire
- Operation of Emergency Vehicles (EVOC) Certification with eight hours each of driving and lecture time
- Current Valid Driver’s License (VDL)
- Passport within one year of hire
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Associate’s Degree in EMS
- Experience in emergency room, Fire Rescue, etc., or other critical care transport
- Minimum of three years of experience as an EMT or Paramedic
