Controller, Spacecraft Operations

ROLE DESCRIPTION
The Spacecraft Operations team is responsible for 24/7 monitor and control of SES’s multi-orbit fleet of communication satellites. In this position you will operate GEO and/or MEO satellites to ensure asset safety, performance to customers, and maximize the spacecraft lifetime. You will also achieve accreditation and specialization on the ground systems and satellite platforms.
You will be responsible for (this is not an exhaustive list):
- Obtain Spacecraft Controller Ground System accreditation
- Obtain Satellite Subsystem accreditations
- Maintain technical proficiency by periodically reviewing procedures and other spacecraft documentation, and by attending dedicated training sessions organised by Coaches.
- Troubleshoot and resolve ground and spacecraft sub-system anomalies
- Maintain operations activity schedule, deconflict requests, and assure materials are available
- Monitor spacecraft telemetry data, transmit commands as required and perform ranging operations
- May have an opportunity to perform training (Coaching) for Spacecraft Controllers on Ground Control and Satellite Systems
- Notify the Sub-System Engineer, Analyst, and/or other on-call personnel of any event not covered in the plans or procedures
YOUR PROFILE
1) Must Have
- Bachelor’s degree in Science/Engineering and/or 3 to 6 years of work experience in a similar field (a combination of experience and education will be considered)
- Ability to work on 24/7 rotating shifts including days, nights, weekends, and public holidays
- Ability to work with short notice
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
- Fluency in written and verbal English
2) Nice to Have
- Experience with satellite and/or ground systems
- Experience with Python, C#, HTML/CSS/JS, or other programming language
- Good understanding of computer, baseband and RF equipment associated with a TT&C facility.
The base salary range for this full-time position is $60,000.00 - $75,000.00 + bonus + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on this job posting reflects the target salary for new hires in Manassas, VA Area. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
