POSITION PURPOSE
The Senior Accountant is responsible for facilitating the monthly accounting close and reporting cycle, completing account reconciliations, and conducting regular and ad-hoc analysis. This role also supports the Accounting Support Specialists when needed. This position requires someone who is proactive, organized, and capable of managing multiple responsibilities independently.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
1. Create, monitor, and post journal entries as part of the month end close process, ensuring all deadlines are met.
2. Use analytical and problem-solving skills to recognize issues and address them to prevent future issues (i.e. research and resolve the issue).
3. Implement process improvements to streamline accounting procedures and systems.
4. Perform bank and general ledger account reconciliations.
5. Monitor and analyze key performance metrics of the company to further develop strategies to improve performance.
6. Support business decision-making by providing financial analysis and insights.
7. Support annual external audit, i.e. facilitate gathering support across multiple departments.
8. Setup vendors, including any changes to vendor profiles and completing credit applications.
9. Perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Basic Knowledge & Competencies
• Excellent Customer Service and multi-tasking skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Detail oriented; accuracy is imperative
• Ability to be an effective team member and display initiative
• Strong time management and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
• Strong analytic and technical abilities
• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
Previous Experience/Education
• Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in accounting
• 2+ years' experience as a Staff/Senior Accountant or relevant experience in Public Accounting
• Experience with integrated ERP systems; Net Suite experience preferred
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
• Working conditions are normal for an office environment
• Frequent use of hands to manipulate the keyboard, telephone, files and other equipment
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
