POSITION PURPOSE:

Responsible for performing general maintenance mechanic duties as required, and in addition will be responsible for the primary function of Mobile Equipment Mechanic.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works to required specifications and tolerances in assembling or replacing parts in machinery or equipment.
• Will operate heavy equipment such as vehicles, cranes, front end loaders, track hoe, back hoe, manlifts, etc. as pertains to accomplishing duties.
• Must be in good physical condition as considerable manual effort is involved.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• 5 years of experience as a mechanical craftsman
• Minimum of 4 years mobile equipment experience or a combination of experience and related certifications considered
• Knowledge of operation and repair of small mobile crane, man lifts, fork lifts, road grader and small dozer
• Must have experience in plumbing and mechanical equipment associated with maintaining building infrastructures.

Skills and Abilities:

Must have the ability to:

• Repair and overhaul industrial type lawn mowing equipment
• Perform systems and data analysis to determine cause of failure
• Repair hydraulic systems
• Repair automotive and light equipment electrical systems
• Repair and rebuild gasoline and diesel engines
• Repair and replace automotive mechanical parts
• Replace belts and hoses, tire repair, and perform roadside assistance as needed
• Operate automatic and standard transmission vehicles

Special Requirements:

• Valid state driver’s license &
• Must be able to wear company provided respiratory protection and other personal protective equipment when required
• Must currently possess or be able to obtain and maintain a “L” security clearance

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Must be in good physical condition as considerable manual effort is involved
• While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, the ability to adjust focus, and good color vision

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:

• Works excessively in hot areas and awkward positions of work.
• May occasionally work in other environments including outside, where noise levels and weather conditions may vary.
