The Opportunity 

As Program Lead for Substations, you will design, deliver, and continuously improve training pathways for substation apprentices and technicians. You’ll be the subject matter expert on substation systems, ensuring our workforce is trained to the highest standard of safety, compliance, and technical excellence. 

 

You will play a direct role in preparing the next generation of substation technicians. A workforce that is critical to maintaining reliability across our high-voltage network and supporting the transition to renewable energy. 

 

This position can be based at multiple Transgrid locations, including Sydney, Tamworth, Newcastle, Orange, Wagga Wagga, and Yass. 

 

A Day in the Life at Transgrid 

In this role you’ll: 

  • Develop structured training pathways for substation apprentices and technicians. 

  • Partner with the RTO and industry providers to ensure training is current and relevant. 

  • Oversee program compliance, audits, and continuous improvement. 

  • Support trainers delivering substation programs, ensuring consistency and quality. 

  • Promote programs externally through industry forums and awards. 

 

About You 

You bring extensive substation experience and a passion for sharing your knowledge. You are comfortable leading technical training and are committed to building the next generation of skilled substation workers. You will bring: 

  • Substation operations and maintenance background in the energy sector. 

  • Certificate III Electrotechnology plus Certificate IV TAE (or willingness to obtain). 

  • Experience in designing and delivering training programs. 

  • Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills.
