Job Description:
This job is responsible for implementing and monitoring operational risk management policies, procedures, standards and programs with enterprise-wide impact mindset and or focused for specific departments within a business group. Key responsibilities include in depth knowledge and expertise of risk to be able to strategically support business managers and peers to follow enforced risk/regulatory practices. Job expectations include balancing business strategy with appropriate risk management controls and strong communication skills with teammates and impacted parties.
Associate will be responsible for governance and business control initiatives for the Equities and Options desk within the ISG Markets Group.
Responsibilities:
- Manages the amount of risk that a business is operating with while ensuring no rules or regulations are ignored
- Requires in-depth knowledge of rules and regulations for business that is supported
- Utilizes the ability to identify, communicate, escalate and resolve potential issues or concerns that arise
- Plans and manages project work acting as key point of contact to all business partners involved
- Strategizes with partners to determine best solution and runs checks process to ensure all options have been thoroughly evaluated
- Partners with Equities and Options business leaders to design and implement comprehensive governance, supervisory, and control frameworks.
- Leads Equities and Options governance initiatives, including supervision programs, control enhancements, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Collaborates with Compliance, Legal, and Risk to develop and maintain policies and procedures aligned with regulatory expectations and business evolution.
- Conducts targeted analyses on emerging business risks, regulatory developments, and control effectiveness.
- Serves as a key liaison for internal audits, regulatory exams, and other control-related reviews.
- Identifies control gaps and leads cross-functional efforts to design and implement remediation plans.
- Defines and manages data requirements to support governance metrics and business insights.
Required Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in business management, governance, or control functions within financial services.
- Familiarity with FINRA, SEC, and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
- Deep understanding of supervisory frameworks and control environments.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of driving strategic initiatives.
- Excellent communication skills, including executive-level presentation development.
- Proven ability to lead complex, cross-functional projects independently.
- Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in Wealth Management or Markets businesses.
- Prior involvement in regulatory exams, internal audits, or control remediation efforts.
