I’m Tommy, and I’m the CEO of A1 Garage Door. I’m glad you’re here. 

I started the company in 2007, and we have since grown to be the largest family owned residential garage doors service in North America, operating in 40 markets across 20 states. 

I am excited to enter the Atlanta market to serve more clients near you. Our operations will begin in January of 2025, and we are currently looking for high performers to join us! We are aiming to start training November/December to be ready to help home owners early next year.  

As an Experienced Technician, you will bring your knowledge to the best in the garage door industry. You already know a lot about garage doors, our team will train you on everything else, (including the customer experience, the key to our success), so you can thrive in your very own Atlanta neighborhood.   

You Should Apply If:  

• You love to learn 
• You are a master of communication. You ask great questions and can explain hard things in a simple way 
• You like to help people and solve problems for them 
• You are mechanically inclined   
• Your peers describe you as methodical, reliable and trustworthy 
• You move fast, you’re always busy and no task is too small or too big 
• You are self-motivated and you are looking for a 6 figure income within the first year in your new career. Skilled technicians can earn upwards of $200K/year, some reaching $300K and above.  
• You have a minimum of two years as a garage door technician, and you want to learn how to crush where your income has no cap 

You Shouldn’t Apply If: 

• You prefer working where there are no customers to talk to 
• You think that manual labor is for other people 
• You are not weather resistant (hot/cold depending on season)  
• You don’t like driving. Your company vehicle is your office, and you will spend quite a bit of time driving to customer’s homes 
• You are not likely to follow what you were taught in class and apply it with gusto 

The Job:  

• Travel to various service calls to meet customers in their residence and advise on repair, maintenance or purchase of a new door.  
• Assemble mechanical components or machine parts. 
• Adjust equipment to ensure optimal performance. 
• Order replacement parts 
• Repair or replace worn or broken door parts using hand tools. 
• Disassemble equipment for maintenance or repair. 
• Remove parts or components from equipment. 
• Install hardware or other interior fixtures. 
• Run wiring to connect equipment. 
• Lubricate equipment to allow proper functioning. 
• Test mechanical equipment to ensure its functioning properly. 
• Document operational activities 
• Collect payments for goods or services 

 

Pay, benefits, other cool stuff: 

• Get your very own A1 wrapped van or truck with a gas card. Tools provided. 
• Steady job flow with assigned dispatcher to keep you busy 
• Medical, dental, vision, 401K. NOT a 1099 job. 
• Guaranteed pay of $70,000/yr ($1346/wk) until end of March 
• Commission model: you design your own paycheck, no cap. Weekly pay. 

 

Interview Process:  

Our interview process is not long, but it’s thorough. We want to make sure that each person who joins the team is the right fit for A1. And that we are the right fit for you! 

• Shortly after we receive your application, you will be asked to complete a quick one way video interview. Complete at your convenience and be yourself. Plan on 5 minutes. 
• If we want to know more, we will contact you to schedule an interview with a recruiter. Plan on 30 minutes. 
• Last step is an interview with our VP of Operations for the East region. Plan on 30 minutes.

Requirements

 

Basic Requirements:  

• Be nice! I know, we shouldn’t have to say that, but we mean it.  
• Able to bend, climb, kneel and stand for long periods 
• Physically able to lift 75lbs 
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record 
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and criminal background check 
• Knowledge of basic software such as navigation apps, Google etc as well as tablet and computer
