Full Time Fleet Mechanic

Job Purpose:
- To maintain and repair the company's fleet of 7 buses, ensuring their safe and efficient operation. This includes conducting preventative maintenance, diagnosing, and troubleshooting mechanical issues, and performing necessary repairs to keep the buses in optimal condition. The Mechanic plays a vital role in ensuring the safety and reliability of our transportation services.

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance on buses, including oil changes, lubrication, brake inspections, tire rotations, and other routine checks.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical problems using diagnostic tools and testing equipment.
- Repair or replace defective parts, components, and systems, such as engines, transmissions, brakes, steering systems, electrical systems, and air conditioning systems.
- Conduct safety inspections to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair work performed.
- Order and maintain inventory of necessary parts and supplies.
- Operate shop equipment, including lifts, welders, and other specialized tools.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Collaborate with other mechanics and technicians to ensure efficient workflow.
- Stay up to date on the latest technologies and repair techniques related to bus maintenance.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Certification from a recognized automotive technical school preferred

Required Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience repairing and maintaining buses or similar heavy-duty vehicles
- Demonstrated experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in buses
- Experience performing preventative maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, inspections, and component replacements.
- Experience working with diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve mechanical issues.
- Experience adhering to safety regulations and procedures in a shop environment.
- Experience working independently and as part of a team to complete repairs efficiently and effectively.
- Experience maintaining accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed.
- Experience working with computerized diagnostic equipment and tools

Required Skills and Abilities:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to diagnose and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues.
- Proficiency in using various hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and welding equipment (if required).
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively communicate with supervisors, colleagues, and potentially passengers.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and work in various physical positions, including bending, stooping, and kneeling.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
