Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is seeking a Principal Embedded Software Engineer /Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer with the desire to learn new technologies to join our innovative Software Technologies Organization to help develop, enhance and maintain software on cutting edge products and systems. Candidates will work on software systems for mission systems in all phases of the software development lifecycle, primarily in C/C++. 

We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Embedded Software Engineer or a Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer based out of Linthicum, MD.

Summary of Role:

As a Principal Embedded Software Engineer /Senior Principal Embedded Software Engineer within the Software and Digital Technologies Organization you will have a challenging and rewarding opportunity to be a part of our Enterprise-wide digital transformation.

The selected candidate will focus on System Security Engineering (SSE) Software (e.g. Anti-Tamper (AT), Cybersecurity, Program Protection). This includes security software development; software integration and test; identification and authentication; cryptography; digital signatures; fail secure; auditing; software security assurance activities, such as Static and Dynamic security scanning of application software; application layer hardening; ensuring Secure Coding Best Practices are followed; and environment/infrastructure hardening per CM Standards (STIGs). The successful candidate will be collaborative, open, transparent, and team oriented with a focus on team empowerment & shared responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning and a culture of automation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Software lead / developer for a scrum team focused on SSE software, Anti-Tamper, Cybersecurity, software assurance, secure coding practices, security-focused engineering trade studies, and other security best practices.

  • Identifying risks, suggesting mitigation, tracking defects, developing resolutions, and reporting status.

  • Conducting system vulnerability scanning, remediation and patch management activities

  • Ensuring systems are operated, maintained, and disposed of in accordance with security policies and procedures as outlined in the system security authorization package (SSP, SCTM, ConMon Plan, RAR).

  • Develop and execute unit tests and build verification test plans, and track and report test status.

  • Conduct reviews of software related products, software designs, and additional technical documents.

  • Active participation in Integrated Product Teams (IPT), design reviews, and other reviews, as required.

  • Actively participate in the technical peer reviews to ensure system/software requirements are being met from an end-to-end system point of view.

This position is contingent upon the successful transfer of an Active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain a Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start.
