About the role

The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector is seeking a Marketing and Communications Writer to support the business development and growth activities of our Enterprise Digital Experience Practice at our Leidos Headquarters in Reston, VA. 


POSITION SUMMARY:
The successful candidate will partner with cross-functional teams within the EDX practice and related Business Areas to create compelling marketing content that promotes our digital modernization services. This role requires someone who can both execute on immediate needs while maintaining sight of broader strategic goals and outcomes. The position demands a self-motivated professional who actively seeks opportunities for growth and innovation in their work and is comfortable learning new skills to adapt their contributions to the evolving needs of the Practice.

Working with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), you will quickly build an in-depth comprehension of highly technical concepts (ITSM, ITAM, CMDB, KM, CX, HCD, End User Services, RPA, AIOps, etc.) to develop clear and compelling content for marketing materials, including white papers, brochures, case studies, web content, and social media that resonates with our target audience. In this role, you will proactively gather and curate case studies, collateral, demo scripts, proof points, and other relevant materials to enhance the business development initiatives of the EDX Practice. You will also be asked to work with with practice colleagues to coordinate tasks, action items and project activities, and explore new tools to help you and your teammates conduct work more effectively.

CLEARANCE REQUIREMENT:
No initial clearance is required to start; however, you must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance. (US Citizenship required).

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Strategic Content Development: Take ownership of developing engaging marketing materials that are clear, concise, and persuasive, positioning Leidos as the leading Digital Modernization and EDX expert. Proactively identify opportunities to improve existing content and suggest new content types that could benefit the practice.
  • Project and Task Coordination: Demonstrate influence by coordinating complex deliverables across multiple stakeholders, ensuring deadlines are met. Proactively follow up with task owners and maintain clear communication channels throughout project lifecycles.
  • Go to Market Campaign: Partner with marketing managers to align content with campaign goals, taking initiative to suggest improvements and innovative approaches. Demonstrate accountability for writing and editing campaign collateral that positions Leidos as a market leader.
  • Thought Leadership and Innovation: Research and stay current with industry trends, emerging technology, and government market developments to create compelling content that expands Leidos’ market voice. Proactively identify      new opportunities for content, including op-eds, blog posts, and speaking points for SMEs at industry events.
  • Proposal Development and Content Management: Partner closely with EDX Practice Team, SME’s and Business Area colleagues to drive the development of reusable content for RFIs and RFPs. Take ownership of creating and maintaining a library of "gold standard" content that enhances bid efficiency while ensuring alignment with practice capabilities and  offerings.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively expand skill sets beyond core technical writing, including developing proficiency in visual design, presentation development, and other complementary areas that enhance content and project effectiveness.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s  Degree with 4+ years of professional experience; additional years of  experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
  • Prior work history as a marketing communications writer with a solid comprehension of writing content for the market that is clear, compelling and resonates with target audiences. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and basic comprehension of SharePoint repositories and tools similar to Visio. 
  • Excellent writing, communication, and organizational skills. 
  • Strong work ethic with a demonstrated drive for continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Ability to manage workload with limited supervision and work as needed to meet deadlines.
  • Experience in or willingness to take on task and project coordination tasks.
  • Limited travel to various locations around the Washington Metro Area, as needed.
