Job Description
The Senior Vice President of Product Development, Production and Sourcing drives transformation and results to support the organization’s growth strategy to achieve top and bottom-line results. This role leads the product development, sourcing, production, raw materials, quality assurance and technical design teams. This individual is forward thinking with regards to capacity planning, long-term production and sourcing strategy, capital investment and project execution. They will oversee the strategic planning for the years ahead and are responsible for diversification and risk mitigation through vendor diversifications (production and raw materials), geographic diversification, and continuous counter sourcing and improvement; all while monitoring process and trying to improve costing through materials and production.
Responsibilities included but not limited to:
- Lead sourcing organization to identify strategies for cost engineering opportunities, production efficiencies, improving quality, and reducing costs while taking into account market trends, customer demands, and resource constraints in collaboration with Design and Merchandising teams.
- Develop and execute multiyear global vendor and raw material mill sourcing strategy, establish KPI goals to drive sourcing initiatives that enable sustainable speed and agility to deliver profitable top-line growth.
- Partner with Design, Merchandising and Planning leaders to align on business priorities, KPIs, development workflow, product strategies and assortment architecture to build resources (internal & external) needed to deliver on assortment requirements.
- Perform competitive research; continually evaluate marketplace to identify and review applicability of key trends in manufacturing, fabrications, and construction; identify significant innovations and share with partners in Merchandising and Design on regular basis.
- Lead vendor qualification, MSA and SLA initiatives across international supply chain.
- Identify opportunities for process and technology improvements while sponsoring PLM system implementations and new development technology systems.
- Ensure vendor and mill compliance standards; including but not limited to chemical compliance, labeling, duty, and testing that support product quality and delivery requirements while being implemented in a proper and ethical manner consistent with Vuori’s standards.
- Proactive approach to relationship building/management with mills and vendors to review performance regularly and review areas of improvement.
- Identify best factories/countries in design, quality, cost, delivery, sustainability and innovation.
- Oversee seasonal vendor allocation including cost negotiations based on bottom-up breakdown of Bill of Materials (BOM) at division and product category level.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field
- 15+ years of Production, Sourcing, and/or Development experience, preferably in an apparel retail environment
- Proven track record of starting and operating a liaison office in the Asia Pacific region
- Extensive experience with developing global sourcing strategy with diversified country matrix, multiple foreign offices and risk profile analysis
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Extensive experience with fabrics and overseas factories and manufacturing
- Growth mindset; enthusiasm for learning new tools and problem-solving
- Excited by moving fast, investing deeply in relationships, and working through ambiguity within a startup environment
