What we are looking for
NRC is looking for a Global Livelihood and Food Security Adviser to join the Global Livelihood and Food Security Team. The role holder will be responsible for the technical and strategic support to country and regional offices. It will be instrumental in developing the new direction for Livelihood and Food Security in NRC, ensuring a market-based approach that lead to increased food security and improved income for displacement affected people.
This position will focus on Livelihood and Food Security programming in Europe and Asia country programmes until the end of May 2025, after which it will also embrace the Latin America portfolio from 1 June 2025, and be a part of the Global LFS team. Close collaboration with other core competencies in NRC will be key for this role (Education; Information, Counselling, and Legal Assistance; Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene; Shelter and Settlements; and Protection from Violence), as well as thematic areas (market systems, cash and vouchers, climate change, self-reliance and durable solutions, local actors, and safe and inclusive programming).

What you will do
- Policy, Strategy, and Programme Development (developing policies, strategies, tools, and new approaches with a focus on innovation; developing country/regional core competence strategies and implementation plans; contributing to areas of innovation and development; and contributing to resource mobilisation and fundraising).
- Technical Development, Support, and Capacity Building (providing strategic advice, technical support, capacity building, staff training, and contributing to recruitment; ensuring LFS programming approaches contribute to integrated response and analysis; contributing to the NRC global development of LFS; and facilitating and stimulating an environment conducive to innovation).
- Quality Standards, Data Analysis, and MEAL (providing strategic advice, technical support, and capacity building to ensure quality programming of core competencies; institutionalising sector-specific MEAL tools, ensuring effective planning, implementation, and data utilisation; ensuring compliance with the response policy and quality oversight of MEAL; and promoting learning activities, contributing to strategic evaluations and research, and disseminating sector-specific learning and good practices).
- Networking, Representation, and Relationships (identifying, developing and maintaining relations with relevant stakeholders; and identifying and developing regional advocacy issues related to the core competence).

What you will bring
- Market-based Livelihoods and Food Security experience within the humanitarian field.
- Programme quality and strategic approaches to programme development track record.
- Tools and resources development expertise.
- Programme quality assessments, programme development, and programme delivery experience.
- Learning and development delivery exposure, as part of quality improvement and capacity building.
- Varied countries and regions exposure.
- Complex, and volatile context exposure, with a preference for previous experience working with displaced populations.
- English and Spanish fluency, both written and verbal.

- In 2025, the Europe and Asia regions will merge to form the EurAsia region which will cover Ukraine and Moldova in Europe; and Afghanistan, Iran, Bangladesh, and Myanmar in Asia. Currently both the Ukraine and Moldova have Livelihood and Food Security programming while, in Asia, Afghanistan and Iran have this programming.
