Description & Requirements

The Senior Postgres Database Administrator is responsible for managing and optimizing our non-production enterprise database fleet in the cloud, with a primary focus on Postgres and secondary experience in SQL Server Administration.

A Day in The Life Typically Includes:

• Manage AWS RDS/Aurora services, ensuring high availability and optimal performance.
• Administer Postgres databases within a Linux environment, applying best practices for security and efficiency.
• Develop and maintain scripts for automation and management using PowerShell, T-SQL, or comparable languages.
• Oversee SQL Server databases, implementing strategies for performance tuning and maintenance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support DevOps initiatives and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
• Conduct Windows OS management tasks, with a focus on performance tuning.
• Execute backup and recovery procedures, ensuring data integrity and availability.
• Engage in capacity planning to anticipate and meet future infrastructure needs.

Basic Qualifications:

• Experience in Postgres Administration within a Linux environment.
• Experience with SQL Server, Microsoft Windows, and database maintenance tasks, including backups, recovery, and tuning.
• Programming/scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, Bash, Perl, T-SQL, or similar languages.
• Experience automating repetitive database management tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with cloud service platforms such as Amazon Web Services, Azure, or equivalent.
• Prior involvement in database migrations, particularly from SQL Server to AWS/Aurora.
• Knowledge of SQL Always On Availability Groups.
• Relevant certifications in Postgres, SQL, or cloud technologies.
• Understanding of enterprise storage systems and network infrastructure.
