About the role

Position Summary: The Director of BTS stands at a critical junction between Marine Credit Union’s (MCU) strategies and outcomes. This role includes an exciting combination of both business and technology leadership skills. The role is multifaceted, requiring a grasp of MCU strategic goals as well as strong insight into both business and technology trends. This is a key leadership position that steers software system projects and ensures alignment with organizational goals. Collaboration and partnerships with business units will drive successful execution of Marine’s strategic plan. Alignment with Marine’s mission, vision, and values is a critical foundation. Duties and Responsibilities:Strategic Planning

Develop and implement strategic plans related to application architecture and development. Understand MCU’s strategic plan and ensure technology goals are aligned with business objectives.
Identify opportunities for technology innovation and improvement to enhance business processes and outcomes.
Establish long-term plans and roadmaps for application development initiatives.

Project Management

Work in close partnership with PMO and Product Management teams.
Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of multiple application development projects.
Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the desired quality standards.
Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.

Team Leadership

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of software developers, engineers, system administrators, business analysts, and other technical staff.
Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment that encourages continuous learning and growth.
Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback to team members.

Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with other departments, including IT, business units, and senior management, to understand their needs and requirements.
Ensure effective communication and collaboration between cross-functional teams throughout the development lifecycle.
Facilitate stakeholder engagement and manage expectations regarding project outcomes and timelines.

Quality Assurance

Implement and enforce best practices and standards for software development and quality assurance.
Ensure applications undergo rigorous testing and validation before deployment.
Monitor and evaluate application performance and address any issues or improvement opportunities.

Budgeting and Resource Management

Develop and manage the application development budget, ensuring efficient allocation of resources.
Identify and secure necessary tools, technologies, and talent to support development initiatives.
Monitor and control expenses to align with budgetary constraints.

Compliance and Security

Ensure all software applications comply with relevant industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
Implement robust security measures to protect applications and data from potential threats.
Stay informed about the latest security trends and ensure the development team is trained on security protocols.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience leading IT Software Solutions functions including: software development, application administration, business analyst, implementation and support/maintenance services; scope management, timeline, budget, SDLC (Agile, etc.)
Banking systems knowledge
Salesforce.com experience
Data architecture and mapping experience preferred
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills; team player
Must be self-organized, and be able to define tasks, establish priorities, and implement according to plan.
Demonstrated ability to effectively and efficiently manage multiple projects/priorities with varying complexity.
