What you get to do:

  • Oversee daily departmental operation and staff development
  • Conduct animal treatments, procedures and/or transports as needed
  • Train staff in animal collection processes and techniques
  • Maintain and update animal records and departmental records on a daily basis
  • Perform all daily approved husbandry tasks including food preparation as well as basic water quality testing, chemical additions and water parameter monitoring
  • Perform general aquarium maintenance, including algae removal, habitat diving, preventative maintenance and aquarium decorating
  • Maintain safe and sanitary work areas and animal environments
  • Maintain all equipment and area responsibilities on a daily basis
  • Perform daily observation of animals and report any abnormalities to staff supervisor
  • Act as an ambassador for the company at all times and provide exceptional guest service
  • Perform other duties as assigned


What it takes to succeed:

  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have at least 6 years Aquarist related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Marine Science or related field preferred
  • 1 year guest service experience preferred
  • Possession of a valid state driver’s license preferred
  • At least 18 years old
  • SCUBA certified and be able to pass SEA dive physical
  • Able to pass qualifying swim test and annual swim test competency exam
  • Able to complete provided CPR training/certification
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to swim and work in/around water
  • Able to stand for long periods of time
  • Able to lift, push and pull 75 pounds
  • Comfortable with heights
  • Comfortable with exposure to noise, vibrations and motion
  • Able to train on and properly use protective gear
  • Comfortable working around fumes/dust/odor
  • Comfortable working around chemicals
  • Able to work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions and temperature extremes
  • Available to work varying shifts/hours based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts; nights, weekends, and holidays
